The owner of Bodhi Yoga Studio, Chris Williams, has traveled to India three times to become a fully qualified Yoga Teacher, spending many hours learning the ancient practice to bring you an east meets west approach in the urban oasis in Milton.
Chris experienced an Ashram in Goa, India, giving him a taste for Ashram life. 2 years later, he returned to India, this time heading to Rishikesh, located in the foothills of the magnificent Himalayas. Rishikesh is rich in the history of yoga and known as the Yoga capital of the world.
Chris delved into ancient teachings from current masters, the knowledge being passed down through generations. The experience was truly mesmerizing and provided them with remarkable tools to teach authentic yoga in Australia. As the second trip to India came to end, Chris started thinking about the potential to share the love of yoga to the Brisbane community. Being in the health and fitness world already (as a fitness trainer, Chris had already been actively looking for a new space that was close enough to Paddington to continue to serve his loyal personal training studio clientele. But things hadn’t quite gone so smoothly – prior to India.
On his return to Australia, the right place at the right time popped up. The space was absolutely perfect and it truly is amazing how things flow much easier in your life when you make the commitment to not only seek them, but make them a part of who you are.
This began the journey to 3 months of renovation. Chris really got his hands dirty and helped create the space that you now see and experience today. Together with a licensed builder and a handful of friends and family pitching in at different stages, Bodhi Yoga was born.
